Abstract

Tourism is an important sector that contributes to the development of the regional economy. In addition to its economic contributions, tourism also has socio-cultural and environmental effects. These effects can be positive or negative. The level of perception of these effects by the local people is important for the development of regional tourism. Evaluating the racial, religious, linguistic and cultural differences of the local people and the way they perceive tourism plays an important role in the planning of tourism and the development of the region in terms of getting to know the local people. In this study, the relationship between the multicultural personality traits of the local people in Diyarbakır and the tourism perception of the local people was tried to be determined. The population of the research consists of the local people residing in Diyarbakır. In this study, simple random sampling method was used and 500 questionnaires were obtained from the local people. As a result of the research, a positive and significant relationship was determined between multicultural personality traits and the perception of tourism.
