Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of gastronomy and Turkish cuisine culture on the homeland
travels of the second generation immigrant Turks living in Germany. The study is based on qualitative data collected through semi-structured interviews with second generation immigrant Turks. Descriptive analysis method, which is one of the qualitative data analysis methods, was used in the interpretation of the obtained data. Turkish cuisine is one of the important parts of Turkish culture and research findings support this. A significant part of the participants traveled to the homeland for gastronomic purposes and stated that they would come back to the homeland to enjoy Turkish cuisine in the future. Therefore, according to the findings of the study, it can be said that Turkish cuisine plays an important role in the travels of the second generation immigrant Turks to the homeland. However, the study was carried out with a limited number of participants. Therefore, quantitative studies are needed to examine the role of gastronomy more comprehensively in the travels of immigrants to their homeland.
